A Vast Array of Activities
Relax on the sprawling verandas and escape the hectic pace of today's
world, just as travelers did when the home was first converted to
an inn at the turn of the century.
Located only 400 feet from the city docks and public beach, the
Captain Gilchrist House is adjacent to the Maritime Museum and historic
Lighthouse. Walk two blocks to the heart of downtown and enjoy the
many specialty shops, taverns and unique restaurants, featuring
French, Czechoslovakian, Italian, and American cuisine. Bikes are
available for those in a hurry to explore. Sail and power boat rentals
and fishing charters are available from one of the many marinas
in this lakeside port.
The entrance to Cedar Point and ferry boats to the islands is about
20 miles from the inn - making the Captain Gilchrist House "The
Place to Stay on Your Way to the Bay."
